On warm summer days I like to just go outside without too much of a plan and mess about, experiment, play, and see what happens. All the wild food foraging shenanigans this month are very much in that spirit, reflecting just a few of the things I’ve been up to in Junes recently gone by: getting to grips with wild rose, elderflower buds, green walnuts, vetch peas, salty salt marsh plants – annual sea-blite, sea purslane and marsh samphire, wild garlic seeds and those prolific burrowing, hopping and leaping shrimp-flavoured delights – sandhoppers. So without further ado, let’s get started and head down to the salt marsh.
